I was being told what to do, how to work, when to work, and what rules to follow.
Now I don't mind falling in line when it's necessary, but I knew there was so much more for me out there.
The problem was, I didn't know how to start following my dreams of being a paid writer.
I was scared to try. Because if I failed, I didn't know what would be next.
I'd be heartbroken if I couldn't do what I loved.
Then, something changed.
I started thinking big picture one day after having to leave work to pick up my sick child at daycare. I remember feeling guilty about letting my colleagues down. (Who would pick up the slack?)
I also felt guilty thinking about work when my child needed me.
I hated having to ask for permission to leave work to take care of my child.
And I knew these feelings would only grow as my children grew older and I grew more burned out.
Work wasn't working out.
I needed something better.
My family deserved it.

So I got serious about trying out a freelance writing career. After taking an online course in content marketing, I found more potential in freelancing than I ever imagined.
